How long have you been in business? Since 1972.
Who works at the shop? Bob Desmarais, Eric Hamel, Jeff Martin, Brandon Begin.
What events have you done at the shop in the past few years? We do our annual Death of Winter jam at Rockwell skatepark in Bristol. We also had a DVD premiere of Last Chance at the Bristol store.
What does Biker’s Edge offer that mail-order doesn’t? Service is a big one. It’s way more personal; a place to build relationships with people. If we don’t support our local, brick-and-mortar bike shops, they won’t be there when we need advice, answers or service.
Strangest experience selling an Animal product: Explaining the Kotulak tool to kids’ parents.
Why carry Animal? Everybody wants the best products on the planet. Constantly coming up with new clothing ideas, products and parts. Always evolving, never stagnant.
Any future plans for the shop? We just opened a second location in Torrington, CT. That’s enough.
If you can have one BMX product that doesn’t exist yet what would it be? Animal complete bikes. I would like to see the Crackya Backpacks come back.
Where do you see the shop in ten years? Right here having a great selection of bikes and products, continuing to provide the best service around.
