How long have you been in business?
Incycle has been in business for a little over 20 years now. Casual just opened up the beginning of this year.

Can you explain how the idea for a store came to be?
With our new mail-order Casual, I felt like most kids preferred to shop online for their parts, so I wanted to make a cool site where they could get everything they need at good prices along with a cool place to check current web vids and BMX news. I also felt it was important that the person who owns and operates the site should also be a rider and a person that cares about all the brands and people being promoted, so I made it happen.

Who owns the shop?
Incycle is I (Mark Smits) and Dominic Galenti. Casual BMX is Bobby Summers and I.

What events have you done at the shop in the past few years?
I had a jam in the back of the San Dimas location. Brought some ramps out, had some music playing, had some pizza and gave away some product. A lot of riders came out; good times were had.

What changes have you noticed in the scene since the shop opened?
The local BMX scene is only growing around here and I’m stoked to be a part of it.

What does Incycle offer that mail-order doesn’t?
Mail-order pricing without the shipping charge, plus you don’t have to wait.

Top three best-selling Animal products:
Edwin grips, TWW tires, and headsets.

Why carry Animal?
Because it is a quality product someone can rely on to work as well as look good on the bike.

Any future plans for Incycle and Casual?
Have big plans for the future of Casual- currently putting a team together, as well as working on other Casual-branded products.

How many trends have you seen come and go since you have been open?
Biggest trend that I noticed come and go would have to be kids trying to make their bike as light as possible.

What is the best thing you gained or witnessed from owning/ starting the shop?
With Casual, it made me realize how large the BMX community actually is worldwide.

Where do you see the shop in ten years?
With Casual, the go-to mail-order for the West Coast!
