So what have you been up to?
I spent two and a half weeks last month chilling in Japan- Tokyo, Nagoya, and Kyoto, with the Animal crew and Rie from Motocross Distribution. (See more from the trip HERE.)

How did that treat you?
It was a beautiful trip. Got to see the culture of Japan, as well as ride some amazing spots. Just exploring Tokyo alone is ridiculous. I’ve never been to anywhere so busy and full of spots, so vibrant. I can’t wait to go back.

Where is the footage going to?
QSS #6.

You’re having a part in there. Where else did you ending going for that part?
That was the last trip filming for it. I originally started in Philly and New Jersey, and went up to Buffalo and Binghamton, New York.

How was that?
It was amazing. It was the end of August; it was a bit cooler up there.

That was the same time you shot your DIG interview in the latest issue.

Benny’s opening spread in DIG 97.

Have you seen all the footage for your QSS #6 part?
No. I’m trying to remember what I filmed for it, but I can’t. (Laughs) I can remember a few key clips; I’m looking forward to seeing it.

You’ve been away more than you’ve been home this summer?
Yeah, I think I’ve been home one or two days a month, if that, since February. It’s crazy; I don’t know if I’m coming or going most of the time. I’m looking forward to this month having some time off, relax, see my family and friends before it starts up again in January.

How have you been dealing with jet lag going when back and forth across the pond so frequently?
(Laughs) Not too well, to be honest. I don’t like to sleep a lot, but I need my rest and I feel like I’m not getting it at the moment.

What have you been doing to cope?
Drinking a lot. (Laughs) Discovering new methods of getting to sleep; meditation.

You’ve been working on other projects?
We just finished up the DUB video; just finishing up the Fit video.

Where else have you been in the past few months?
San Francisco for Dew Tour, Austin for Texas Toast, Athens, Greece, before that I was in New York, before that Woodward East… before that, I don’t know where I was. (Laughter) I was somewhere; it was a good time.

How did the ESPN Mic’ed Up edit go when you were in New Jersey?
It came out really well. I obviously cringe hearing my own voice for that long. I was really happy with the riding. The more times I watch it I see a sense of humor in it as opposed to being embarrassed about myself.

How was it doing your first predator grind?
Pretty interesting. It didn’t go well the first few times.

Would you have been more hyped to see Mike Rose pull the bar hop double-peg grind?
(Laughter) I didn’t think there was any way he was doing that grind. I would have been psyched to see him do that shit. I would have been even more psyched if he pulled the rail on a skateboard. He was trying board slides, and he can barely ollie up a curb.

When is the DUB video being released?
Copies should be available any day now.

Full part?
I’ve got a part in there. Also a full part in the Fit video. All the Fit stuff is filmed on trips so far.

If you could have one English clip in there, what spot would it be at?
This one rail in England, in a town called Harrogate. Two rails, about twenty stairs long, mellow, about two feet apart, and stem height. It’s just getting the one dry day, then driving the two hours to get there, and hoping it’s dry in Harrogate.

After December, what do you have going on?
Just trying to avoid the English winter. This is supposed to be the worst winter in 60 years. I’m going to bail to Athens or Barcelona in January. February I think I’m spending the month in South Africa; March and April I think I’m driving around Europe. June hopefully a month in New York; after that I don’t know.

You really are going to be gone a lot.
I will never be home. (Laughs)
